Entroned at the African see of Hippo in AD 397. Died in his see, AD 430 Saint Jerome was born in Dalmatia and died in AD 420 in the birthplace of our Lord, Bethlehem. He was tasked by the Pope, the Bishop of Rome, to translate the Bible into Latin, which became the Vulgate Bible, the latin bible that has been the standard from his time till now.
